MyFonts is yet another super cool iPhone application. This app uses the iPhone camera. So if you run the application and scan some text with the camera it will detect the fonts used. you can email this info or just open it up with Safari on the iPhone itself. Amazing stuff.
Altec Lansing’s inMotion iM600. Gorgeous, 7 hour battery-life on a rechargeable battery, and kickass sound quality and power. My iPhone will play well with this.
TwitterHawk is a recently launched Twitter based advertising service. They claim that they offer what is “arguably the most targeted marketing”. From what I understand they offer context-aware ads on Twitter. The example that they offer is if you set your TwitterHawk search criteria to “coffee near:Queens within:8mi”, the TwitterHawk engine would find tweets in the public timeline which have been posted within 8 miles of Queens and mention the word “coffee”, the TwitterHawk engine would tweet back something about your cafe to them.
Sounds like a pretty innovative marketing scheme. dunno how it will really work, if it will at all. However, with the number of GPS-enabled mobile devices out there today this kind of location specific advertisement will create a lot of room for innovation. So now we have to primary criteria to create search-based ads – context and location. Wonder what will come next.
Came across this real neat website called Pattern Tap that has a collection of a whole lot of designs from websites. the great thing is that the collection has been organized quite well which makes finding something you can use a whole lot easier than having to rummage through something random.
Fortune magazine recently ran a cover story about Steve Jobs. The article deals with the health issues that Jobs has been facing, how Apple and the media are handling it, and Tim Cook, the interim boss of Apple. It’s a good read.
Hillary clinton, the new US Secretary of State called up the Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday. You can imagine how the conversation must have gone. Zardari would have tried to flirt with Clinton telling her how pretty she looks and how she does not deserve to be married to a cheat of a husband. He then would have tried to get an appointment with her with a political pretext, only to try and steal a kiss out of her.
Flipping Typical is a neat website that allows you to checkout what your text will look like on the web with various fonts. It only uses fonts that you have installed on your computer. But the implementation is so simple, aesthetic, and functional, that its a real pleasure using this website. Even if it’s just to play around with some text and try and see if you can come up with something interesting.
